MARISSA FIKE
LPC-MHSP (temp)
Your decision to enter a counseling relationship is a courageous one and I’m so glad you are here! My approach is rooted in the belief that each individual possesses an innate capacity for healing and growth, and that there is power in the uniqueness of your life story. You are the indisputable expert on your life, and I view counseling as a collaborative process in which your expertise is an essential component. It is my goal to provide an empathetic, warm, and safe space for you to feel heard and empowered to live your life in a way that is personally meaningful to you. Utilizing a variety of modalities including Motivational Interviewing, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, I have sat with individuals experiencing difficult life transitions, relationship struggles, anxiety, stress, depression, grief, addiction, emotional disturbance, disordered eating, OCD, and more.
I’m honored to have a role in bearing witness to your story and helping you discover your inner strengths as you navigate life’s challenges!
I graduated from Tennessee Tech with my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in the Summer of 2024. When I am not in the office, you can find me with my nose stuck in a book and with a cup of hot tea in-hand. As a full believer in the power of stories, I love to read and write! I also enjoy hand-blending my own herbal teas and supplying my friends and family with more bars of handmade soap than they could ever need. My husband and I enjoy spending time together outdoors and have recently taken up a passion for all things gardening and sustainability!

· Therapeutic Approach In a Few Words
Ever reverent of your life story and elated to be your advocate, it is my joy to provide an empathetic, warm, and safe space for you to feel heard and empowered to live your life in a way that is personally meaningful to you.
· What drew you to this work?
What drew me to this work, at its heart, was a profound love for stories -- both reading them in countless books and listening to the unique narratives that each individual carries. There's something powerfully moving and endlessly interesting about the human experience, the intricate tapestry of joys, sorrows, triumphs, and vulnerabilities that make us who we are. Discovering the concept of "sonder" – the realization that each passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own -- only deepened this fascination. It ignited a desire not just to witness these stories, but to actively engage with them, to offer a space where they can be explored, understood, and ultimately, contribute to healing and growth.
· What do you hope clients feel when they walk into Grove?
Peace, sanctuary, and a soft place to land where one knows they are fully welcome and celebrated every step of the journey.
· A value or belief I carry into sessions:
My approach is rooted in the belief that each individual possesses an innate capacity for healing and growth, and that there is power in the uniqueness of your life story. You are the indisputable expert on your life, and I view counseling as a collaborative process in which your expertise is an essential component.
· How I care for my own mental health:
For me, the ritual of tea blending and a simple tea meditation offer a sanctuary for mental well-being. Carefully selecting each herb for its specific properties -- perhaps chamomile for calm, peppermint for clarity, or rose for heart-opening -- becomes a mindful act in itself. As the hot water steeps, I engage in a quiet meditation, focusing on the aroma, the warmth of the cup, and the slow unfolding of flavors. This sensory experience anchors me in the present moment, providing a gentle pause to process the day's complexities and cultivate a sense of inner peace and renewed focus.

· Weekend Vibe: What's your dream weekend look like?
As a person whose life is measured by the moments they get to exist near a water source, the dream weekend looks like enjoying a steaming mug of tea by the gentle lapping of water against a shoreline. Whether that soundtrack comes from the ocean, a waterfall, or a calm lakeside -- it would be the only soundtrack as I lose myself in the pages of a captivating novel.

The Midnight Library

Please pick the co-worker who works to the RIGHT of your office, name them, and describe what a client can expect sitting in the room with them as their therapist/office staff:
Adam is such a warm person. He is incredibly easy to talk to, inviting people to bring their full/authentic self into the conversation and supporting them in becoming their favorite and most empowered self. Adam's questions are insightful, thought-provoking, and fully invested in your life story. He is always open to understanding a new perspective and ready to be your advocate! An added bonus to having Adam as your therapist is the optional presence of our resident good boy and formally trained therapy dog, Grover, who is ready to support you with his gentle demeanor and unabashed desire to be your new best friend. If you've been around our office but you haven't met Adam yet... yes you probably have! His warm and contagious laughter can be heard throughout the office whether you are his client or not. :)
